Airport as a flight management infrastructure in supporting the activities of a region needs to be arranged in an integrated manner to realize the provision of airport services in accordance with the level of their needs. In order for the implementation of airport services to be realized in a unit of international airport records that is reliable and highly capable, the airport arrangement still needs to pay attention to the layout, economic growth, environmental sustainability, safety and flight safety internationally. This is as stipulated in Law No. 26 of 2007 concerning Spatial Planning, Law No. 1 of 2009 concerning Aviation, and which was followed up by Government Regulation No. 70 of 2001 concerning airport and KM Minister of Transportation KM. No. 48 of 2002 concerning the Implementation of Public Airports, and KM of the Minister of Transportation Number KM. 83 of 1998 concerning Guidelines for Planning Processes within the Ministry of Transportation.
Air transportation in Lampung Province is served by Radin Inten II Airport which is currently capable of serving Bandar Lampung-Jakarta and Bandar Lampung-Batam flights with aircraft similar to B737 200/300/400. One form of document that is expected to be referred to as a direction in regional development is the Lampung Province Spatial Plan (RTRW) for 2009-2029. In the RTRW it was explained that Radin Inten II Airport was planned to be upgraded from secondary service scale to primary service, and international Singapore and Malaysia, as well as the airport for Hajj embarkation. In addition, the Regional Transportation Level (TATRAWIL) of Lampung Province contained in Lampung Governor Regulation Number 08 of 2006 Article 17 concerning Airport Development Plans which states that the classification of Radin Inten II Airport which is a public airport will be upgraded to serve local and regional routes, routes on Sumatra and Java Island as well as future planning to open international routes to other countries (Source: ESR I: Study of the Master Plan Review of Radin Inten II Airport)
