DESIGN REPORT
Kotagede or Kutagede is a sub-district in Yogyakarta City, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Kotagede is bordered by Bantul Regency in the north, east and south, and Umbulharjo sub-district in the west. The excitement of Kotagede Market is always crowded every day. Traditional markets that have existed since the time of Panembahan Senopati are still active today. Every legion morning in the Javanese calendar, sellers, buyers, and merchandise spill over in this market. The big city show event is very strong because the culture is still so thick that every day in every village has art and cultural performances such as keroncong and karawitan, which every month will also meet shows such as Jatilan, Ketoprak, Wayang, Srandul, Dance and Shalawatan.
Every Legi market, this market is always crowded with visitors, which even come from outside the city of Yogyakarta, the consequences are congestion and congestion in the area around the market, Vehicle parking spaces, and people spilling into one filled the streets in the area around the market since morning, they have to share and fight for space that is already very small because the road body is also used as a parking lot and a transaction venue. The condition of the streets around the Kotagede market which is indeed small in size becomes submerged by the crowds. And Kampung Kota Gede which does not have a special room for performances, during which the annual program of show villages is only done in the kelurahan, so it requires a separate space for the performance space, and the need for green open space as a continuity and balance of village life and space to interact with each other local community.
